AFTER CARE
Taking care of your tattoo correctly is important, and should be a no- brainer. Here are some basic guide lines for you to follow in order so your healing process is as easy as possible.
Remove bandage slowly and carefully by stretching and pulling it away from you. (like a command strip, not like a band-aid)
Wash with warm water and unscented anti-bacterial soap, such as Dial, and pat dry with a clean paper towel once a day.
Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor to your tattoo. Be sure to apply the Aquaphor in the same way you would apply chapstick to your lips- a very thin layer that is just a bit shiny. Remember, youre trying to mimic chapstick, not lipgloss :) After about a week, your can switch out the aquaphor for a light, unscented lotion like Lubriderm or Aveeno.
The MOST important part is to make sure you keep your tattoo clean and moisturized during the healing process so having to reapply the aquaphor through out the day is necessary and normal, making sure your hands are clean when doing so.
No baths, no soaking, no beaches/pools, no saunas, no dirty yoga mats, no wrestling, no dancing in toilet water, no bathing in puddles… you get the idea! A tattoo is an open, healing wound, so stay clean, and be smart.
Do not use anything else besides what is listed above to wash or care for your tattoo unless otherwise advised by me. Do not listen to your friend’s- boyfriend’s -sister “who is an all-natural healer”, or your cousin who has a ton of tattoos”… If you follow these instructions listed, you’ll be on the road to success and all healed up in about 2 weeks time!
